Your panel, on your phone.
Overview
Your panel, on your phone.
Smart electric panel installation in Seattle: Span, Lumin, and Schneider Square D Energy Center. Circuit-level monitoring, remote control, and dynamic load management for homes with solar, battery, or multiple EV chargers.
For most of the last century, the gray box on the wall was just a passive piece of hardware. Power came in, breakers split it up, and that was it. Smart electric panels change that. They turn your panel into something you can monitor, control, and program — circuit by circuit, from your phone.
For some homes that's a nice-to-have. For homes with solar, battery storage, two EV chargers, or a 100A service that's already at the edge, a smart electric panel is the difference between needing a service upgrade and not.
Mad Dog Electric installs Span, Lumin, and Schneider Square D Energy Center smart panels for homes across the Greater Seattle area. We're a licensed Washington electrical contractor and we've installed enough of them by now to know when they actually pay off and when a traditional 200A panel upgrade is the better answer.
Why Mad Dog
Every breaker reports real-time and historical usage to the app. See exactly where your bill goes — and catch a failing freezer before it dies.
Turn off any circuit from your phone. Forgot the iron on, kids are in bed, on vacation — handle it from anywhere.
Throttles non-critical loads when you approach service limit. EV charger slows down when the dryer kicks on — main breaker never trips.
Got a 100A or 150A service? Smart load management can sometimes solve the load problem for thousands less than a full upgrade.

The Mad Dog Guarantee
How It Works
We pull historical usage from your utility plus do a real load calc. This is where we figure out whether a smart panel actually solves your problem.
Which loads go on smart breakers, which on managed circuits, what gets prioritized during outages. Span, Square D, or Lumin based on your needs.
Power off, old panel out, smart panel in (Span/Square D) or sub-panel installed (Lumin). 6–8 hours typical. Network configured.
App configured, circuits set up, schedules and scenes programmed. We walk you through, then meet the L&I inspector.

Permits & Code
Smart electric panel installs require an L&I electrical permit in Washington, same as any panel work. Some smart panels (Span in particular) include features that need to be configured a specific way to meet code — we handle this. Inspectors in the PNW are increasingly familiar with these systems, so the process is straightforward. If you're tying into solar or battery storage, that work is a separate permit — we coordinate.
