Lighting is the part of a home that everyone notices and nobody can quite explain. You walk into a house with bad lighting and it just feels off — too yellow, too patchy, too bright, harsh shadows on the kitchen counter. Walk into one with good lighting and you don't think about it at all.
Residential lighting installation in Seattle done right is part electrical work, part design — circuit layout and dimmer compatibility on one side, beam angles and color temperature on the other. We do both.
Mad Dog Electric is a licensed Washington electrical contractor and we install lighting from a single replacement fixture up through full whole-house lighting designs, indoor and out.
Why Mad Dog
We use remodel-rated cans that install through a 4-inch hole — no attic access required. Joist mapping first, IC-rated cans where there's insulation.
Switches work locally without internet. The dimmers are excellent. Best fit for most Seattle homes — we install and program the basics.
Low-voltage transformers sized properly. Path lights every 8–10 feet, uplighting trees at 30°, warm 2700K so it doesn't look like a parking lot.
We don't install bulbs below CRI 80. Whites look white, food looks like food, no greenish bathroom light.

We map joists, check existing circuits, and lay out the can/fixture plan. Color temperature and dimmer compatibility decided up front.
Detailed quote — fixtures (or we recommend), cans, drivers, switches, programming. Line-by-line so you can see what each piece costs.
Most rooms done in 4–6 hours. Recessed cans installed through a 4-inch hole. Smart switches programmed before we leave.
We dial in dimmer settings, set up smart scenes/schedules, and clean up. Patches small enough to be ready for paint.
