Overview
Built right from the ground up.
New construction electrical in Seattle: full rough-in to trim-out, 200A service, smart-home pre-wire, EV-ready conduit, code-compliant and inspection-ready. Working with builders and homeowner-builders across King and Snohomish County.
There are two ways a new house gets its electrical system done. One is a contractor with a clipboard and a fast-stapler who hits the rough-in deadline by an inch and leaves you fighting code corrections through trim-out. The other is a partnership — where the electrician shows up at framing with the GC's plan in hand, asks where you actually want the recessed lights instead of guessing, and runs everything once.
New construction electrical in Seattle is what we do day-in-day-out for builders, custom-home GCs, and homeowner-builders across King and Snohomish County. The system you build now is the one you'll live with for 30 years; we treat it like that.
Mad Dog Electric is a licensed Washington electrical contractor. We take on full residential new builds (single-family, ADUs, DADUs, custom homes) and additions where the wiring is essentially a new build. Every project is permitted with L&I, runs against current NEC and Seattle DCI requirements, and gets inspected at rough and final.
Why Mad Dog
We sit down with architect plans before framing. Cheapest time to make changes is before any wire is in the wall.
EV-ready conduit, structured wiring, Lutron-ready switches with neutrals, solar/battery readiness — at rough-in, not as a retrofit.
We default to 200A on every single-family build. EV + heat pump + induction + dryer adds up fast — 100A is at capacity before lights turn on.
Rough-in starts within 5 business days of framing inspection. We schedule and meet inspections ourselves so the build doesn't stall.

The Mad Dog Guarantee
How It Works
We sit down with the architect's plans, do the load calc, and mark up panel placement, lighting, and rough-in details before any wire goes in.
Boxes set, cable run, service entrance and panel installed, structured cable for low-voltage, EV-ready conduit. Rough inspection signed off.
Devices, fixtures, GFCI/AFCI outlets, smoke/CO detectors, recessed light trims, dimmers, smart switches. Panel fully labeled.
L&I final inspection — we meet the inspector. Final walk-through with the GC and homeowner. Documentation handed over.
Real Pricing
Rough order of magnitude on a single-family build in 2026 (we always quote line-by-line against the plan):
1,500–2,500 sq ft, 200A, standard
$11,000 – $18,000
Full electrical, rough through trim
2,500–4,000 sq ft, smart-home pre-wire
$18,000 – $32,000
Lutron, structured cable, EV-ready
4,000+ sq ft, 400A service
$32,000 – $55,000
Full smart panel, EV-ready, solar-ready
ADU/DADU (typical)
$6,500 – $11,000
Sub-panel from main + full rough-trim
Variables: number of recessed lights, under-cabinet and landscape lighting, generator pre-wire, smart switches, fixture grade. Itemized against the plan.
Permits & Code
Every new residential electrical job in Washington requires an L&I permit and at minimum two inspections (rough and final). Seattle properties under DCI also follow local amendments. Common items that catch builders off-guard: tamper-resistant receptacles required everywhere, AFCI breakers on most 15A/20A circuits in habitable rooms, GFCI in kitchens/baths/garages/outdoors, EV-ready conduit requirements appearing in some jurisdictions, smoke + CO detector placement and interconnection per current code. We handle all of it.
